Planting The Seed- Our First Blog Post

Today I’d like to introduce you to Productive Place. My name is Kyle and I am the lead designer for this website. My partner and the creator of this idea for a platform, Angel, and I wanted to put together this site to be a great resource hub for those wishing to further their own personal development.

About myself, I am 26 years old and in love with technology and development. I have worked with Real Estate Marketing companies in the past. I have developed my own Android games; Hosted a decent Minecraft server network; and even developed my own software tools used for marketing or research purposes.

Reasons To Start

However despite all my knowledge and skill, I often feel that I get scatterbrained by jumping from project to project. On top of that, I currently work at a grocery store instead of something in my field.

I often hit mental roadblocks due to stress, financial reasons, or even complications of the heart and soul. And when a friend referred me over to Angel, I noticed I had a chance to work with someone who understands this and wishes to help others and himself grow to where he and they wish to be.

Angel had this idea for a website and asked if I would be willing to help build it for him. Typically in the past, I would avoid projects such as this due to knowing that I can be lazy and allow my own mental self to get in the way with my true self.

I was excited to see that upon talking about the further development of this site, I was welcomed to use this platform to test my own skills to internet marketing as well and my web development skills.

Timeline

We started talking about this on December 8th, 2018. Nothing had really been done. In the start of January of 2019, Angel purchased hosting but no website was put up on my behalf. A few weeks into January and I had gotten the basic wordpress installation up. Between January til now, we have been talking about the game plan and vision for the site. Today is February 6th, 2019 and I have started to finally work on the website.

I mention the timeline because we agreed that one of our main goals is to help inspire, teach, learn, and grow. We felt that a strong presence in transparency was one of the best ways to go about it. This way it also helps keep us accountable to our timeline and vision.

A New State of Mind

I leave closing with the following Youtube Clip from part of a speech by Alan Watts. Just because I know I have failed on being the best productive self and constantly feel like I’m self sabotaging my success. I limit myself a lot of times because I live in the past.

“Some people get a glimpse that we are no longer this poor little stranger and afraid in a world it never made. But that you are this universe. And you are creating it at every moment. Because you see it starts now. It didn’t begin in the past. There was no past. If the universe began in the past, when that happened it was now. But it is still now and the universe is still beginning now and it’s trailing off like the wake of a ship from now and as the wake of the ship fades out, so does the past. You can look back there to explain things but the explanation disappears. You will never find it there. Things are not explained by the past. They’re explained by what happens now. That creates the past. And it begins here.

That’s the birth of responsibility. Because you can look over your shoulder and say, ‘Well, I am the way I am because my mother dropped me. And she dropped me because she was neurotic because her mother dropped her.’ And we go way way back to Adam and Eve or to a disappearing monkey or something.

We never get at it. But in this way you are faced with that you’re doing all this. And that’s an extraordinary shock. So cheer up! You can’t blame anyone else for the kind of world you’re in. And that helps a great deal. Because most of the good things we are trying to do are based on blaming somebody else and to improve them. ‘Kindly let me help you or you’ll drown,’ said the monkey putting the fish safely up a tree.

If therefore we would stop blaming others, it would be very difficult to go about a war with a straight face. And you see if you know that the I — in the sense of the person, the front, the ego — it really doesn’t exist, then it won’t go to your head too badly if you wake up and discover that you’re god.”

~Alan Watts…

Final Takeaway

My take away from this is that right now I have to let go of my limiting beliefs that the past is going to redefine me. The start of my productive transformation starts now.
